Michael Staudigl teaches philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Vienna, Austria. He is also a scientific member of the Research Centre “Religion and Transformation in Contemporary society,” at the Faculty of Theology.
From 2000-2002 he worked as a scientific assistant at a psycho-traumatological ambulance in Vienna; from 2003-2010 he was a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna; since 207 he has been conducting several research grants funded by the FWF, the Austrian Science Fund.
His major areas of expertise are phenomenology, esp. Husserl and contemporary French phenomenology, phenomenology of the body, non-foundational phenomenologies of the social world, which he altogether seeks to apply productively on questions of violence and, most recently, religious violence.
