An assignment for Count Kaunitz In Vienna house numbering started on October 11, 1770 and was completed by April of the following year. The Secret Court and State Chancellery was assigned number 11, which it retained until 1821 when in the course of another numbering procedure it received number 19. The Court and State Chancellor Kaunitz was entrusted with the job of informing foreign envoys that their embassies - explicitly including the papal embassy - just like any other place of abode were subject to being numbered, and likewise was the staff employed by them to be enumerated.
