Ute Smit

I am an applied linguist working at an English Department, which I guess also explains my interest in ‘real-world’ issues connected to English. As the majority of my students are becoming teachers (and I trained as a teacher myself, long ago), my main focus has been on English in and around education, in Austria, Europe more generally, and also in South Africa – actually, that’s where I started off doing research on the whole.
