To exit I recommend the following links rich for aesthetics. Shout-Out and thanks to Webmaster of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, Herbert Hrachovec. He knows to sing the Hobel-Lied in many ways. My recommendation is http://hhobel.phl.univie.ac.at/~herbert/spiegel/spiegel.html .

Richard Heinrich developed and helped to develop an interesting ongoing project from his course in Winter term for "KoerperKunst Natursprache: Gilles Deleuze ueber Francis Bacon (Logique de la sensation)". The adress is http://heihobel.phl.univie.ac.at/meine/h0pxt.htm. (offline mvä 98/2) http://heihobel.phl.univie.ac.at/pro/dbac/h0pxt.htm .

Top of state of the art - in terms of a prestigious organisation's self representation - is the homepage of New York's Dia Center of the Arts: http://www.diacenter.org/.

In place of many others, a special Guide in aesthetics to be mentioned and not yet reviewed is http://www.indiana.edu/~asanl/, now http://www.aesthetics-online.org

The sound of the word Schneeflocke has an odd sound, but the depiction as a Kleinian set is not less so. You can find it in the remarkable "gallery" of Harvard mathematician Curtis T. McMullen, hinted at from Die Zeit on the occasion of a portrayal of the 4 Fields prize winners in ist issue of August 20, 1998, p.28. The website http://math.harvard.edu/~ctm/gallery.html offers 10 more such sets, 8 Riemannian surfaces, 12 examples of complex dynamics, 3 depictions of renormalisation and two for randomness. One picture is called by McMullen "exponential Art Deco" - besides this you could speak of postmodern ornaments here more than one time.

The web literature competition of Hamburg's weekly Die Zeit http://www.pegasus98.de/indexp.htm (offline mvä 00/2) deserves to be hinted at, for instance because of huge webspace. Deicision due end of 1998.

Access to this years newly founded Le parole della filosofia is given with http://www.apl.it//sf/leparole.htm (thanks for the information to editorial board member Laura Berchielli).

The library of the University Konstanz provides with "Philosophie im Internet" via http://www.uni-konstanz.de/ZE/Bib/zs/zsph.html - homepages also pertinent to aesthetics.

An ambitious website in Poland has to be mentioned. It offers a little, focused part on aesthetics and opens the way for a sort of encyclopaedic reading in the internet: http://free.ngo.pl/towitt/katalog/veste.htm

Luxurious and interesting are, on occasion of the current exhibition of French National Library, the dossier http://www.bnf.fr/web-bnf/pedagos/page/index.htm (offline mvä 99/4) and the same institution's collection "Tous les savoirs du monde", containing via "L'encyclopédisme" the important Système figuré of Diderot's and D'Alembert's Encyclopaedia - http://www.bnf.fr/web-bnf/pedagos/dossitsm/fabrency.htm (offline mvä 00/2) - , implying the historical step towards a general theory of art (Batteux, P. O. Kristeller) confirmed by the only (dividing, in fact also connecting) line of the diagram between poetry on the one hand and music, painting, sculpture and graphic arts on the other.

A useful collection of materials on an aesthetics of the media, the philosophy of media and medie art is available with http://mailbox.univie.ac.at/Frank.Hartmann/ , with Seminar für Ästhetik at Humboldt-Universität at http://www2.rz.hu-berlin.de/inside/aesthetics/ (offline mvä 00/2, instead) http://141.20.150.7/aesthetic/ (Historisch / Technische Medienwissenschaften. Oberseminar und Doktorandenkolloquium Prof. Friedrich Kittler) and with Hartmut Winkler's http://www.uni-paderborn.de/~winkler/index.html#aboutme , including the first chapter ''Die Metapher des Netzes'' of "Docuverse - Zur Medientheorie der Computer", München: Boer 1997, online until Februar 26, 2002.

An optically appealing online Journal is De Musica, edited by Giovanni Piana at the Seminario Permanente di Filosofia della Musica of the Department of Philosophy Institut at the University Milan Mailand since 1997. First Italian Aestheticians with phenomenological influence contribute with texts on Husserl, Klee, Kandinsky, Coltrane, Rameau, Schaeffer, Hegel, Berio, Mozart, and Leibniz: http://users.unimi.it/~gpiana/demus.htm

I would like to hand Christian Allesch's recommendation at this place concerning the "langpapers" of Swiss psychologist of culture Alexander Lang, providing access via the colourful portal of http://www.cx.unibe.ch/psy/ukp/langpapers/ . Without page, paragraph or sentence numbers, http://gutenberg.aol.de (offline mvä 02/3 instead http://www.gutenberg2000.de/, leaving now out Lessing) has set online, arranged by names in alphabetical order, primarily fiction of mostly German authors. Sometimes with, sometimes without reproduction of cover, sometimes with, sometimes without linked footnotes, sometimes with chapters to be grasped separately by clicking on the lines of tables of contents, there is some portion of aesthetics: Martin Opitz's Buch von der deutschen Poeterey (In welchem alle ihre eigenschafft und zugehör gründlich erzehlet und mit exempeln außgeführet wird. Gedruckt in der Fürstlichen Stadt Brieg bey Augustino Gründern. In Verlegung David Müllers Buchhändlers in Breßlaw. Abteilung Die philologischen Wissenschaften, 1. Philologie, Sprache und Musik; Noten an den Rand des Lebens; Sophie, oder über die Frauen; Traktat vom Licht; Von der geheimen Welt), Jean Paul's Vorschule der Ästhetik (expanded edition), Jacob Burckhardt's Die Kultur der Renaissance. Ein Versuch (1860), Nietzsche's Fragmente (1869-85; vollständig?) and other publications in its entirety as well as Hofmannsthal's Lord Chandos's Brief (1902).

The next international conference about aesthetics is to take place near Tokyo from August 27 to August 31, 2001. Information to be obtained at The University of Tokyo, Faculty of Letters (Prof. Ken-ichi Sasaki), 7-3-1 Hongo Bunkyo-ku, 113-0033 Tokyo, Japan, or via http://wwwsoc.nacsis.ac.jp/bigaku/2001/index.html (offline mvä 02/3).

Gerhard Haupt's paper "Kritik im Netz - Internet als Medium und Werkzeug der Kunstkritik" at the Berlin conference 1999 of German AICA (Association internationale des critiques d'arts) - http://www.aica.de/symp99/haupt.html - provides a link to Tilman Baumgärtel's "Immaterialien. Aus der Vor- und Frühgeschichte der Netzkunst", from 26. 6. 1997, presented by "telepolis", http://www.heise.de/tp/. Again, Baumgärtel's text, usefully illustrated, leads to a series of relevant art projects documented in the internet. In general "telepolis" (whose contributions pop up with delay because of advertisment) offers little for aesthetic theory, for instance with keyword "Medientheorie" - via "Spezial" - some critical remarks on the avantgarde in Deleuze/Guattari.

"tà katoptrizómena. Magazin für Theologie und Ästhetik" is a journal explicitly near to Evangelische Kirche Deutschlands and fostered by the Fernuniversitätsstadt Hagen. With http://www.theomag.de/ the illustrated, ambitious magazine appears every two to three months, with various length. The 10th number has just been published. The journal can also be ordered as 1-Year-CD. As yet published issues have been put online in html, a search engine for the complete text is at disposal.

Main topics, of which single issues are conceived of, include cinema worlds, the interconnected artworld, virtuel religion (for instance on mobile phones with a title like "Es klingelt, also bin ich.") or music and religion (about Blumenbergs book on Bach's Matthäuspassion). "Aesthetics" is understood in its broadest meaning. In consequence theoretical or philosophical contributions are in the minority. Efforts are occasionally undertaken to give access to web resources. All in all an enterprise one would like to wish vital future.
