After long negotiations, the FFG-funded project FORMES, is about to start at the Department of Astrophysics, University of Vienna. Formation and early Evolution of Stars (FORMES) is an innovative project that will build and leverage on the large amount of space telescope data available in archives and combine them in the largest, to-date, panchromatic catalogue of Young Stellar Objects. These data will be then investigated using machine-learning techniques in order to improve the general picture of evolution of forming stars and will provide the basis for further investigations with future space missions. FORMES will therefore shed light on the early lives of stars like our Sun and ultimately aims to help define our place in the Universe.
