This August, Vienna will welcome more than 3000 astronomers from over 88 countries at the general assembly of the International Astronomical Union. The conference includes also several events for the local community, free and open to the public. I am proud to participate in the organization of an event of such significance and volume; my role in the arrangements of the allocation of available spaces to host the numerous symposia, focus and business meetings of the different divisions of the union brought me close contact with colleagues all over the globe that I look forward to welcome in Vienna. Our hard work here in Vienna to prepare this meeting ensures that it will be an organizational success!
