Nicole Mittermair is a PhD candidate with a research focus on Bronze Age and Early Iron Age Central and Southeastern Europe metallurgy. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Innsbruck, she worked on use-wear analysis of Urnfield Culture metals from Austrian cremation burials (Inzersdorf ob der Traisen, Franzhausen-Kokoron) for her Master’s degree at the University of Vienna. Currently in her PhD thesis she investigates Bronze Age alloying practices in the Balkan region to study prehistoric patterns in metal production and understand dynamics of technological transfer of knowledge.
