Recently I looked into the content of twelve psychology journals. (See the project here!) This is the expanded version of that graph, containing the 3215 most cited individual papers, which is about a fifth of the ten-year-output I was looking at. So while this graph might illustrate certain patterns of journal-internal citation, see for example the blue cluster, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics on the bottom left, or the pink one, Psychological Medicine on the top left, I think it illustrates quite nicely that of this thing, psychology, there is a lot. Which makes the point that maybe it would be nice look at it in an other way than in a boring list...
