Awards and Honors

I have been appointed by the Swiss government to the Swiss Accreditation Council which is the "­joint body of the Confederation and the Cantons for accreditation and quality assurance in the Swiss higher education landscape" in January 2023 for a period of 4 years.

I have been invited to join the CESifo research network as a Fellow in May 2023.

I have been awarded a Senior Core Fellowship which serves to "promote the free and independent pursuit of pioneering scholarly research" at the Institute for Advanced Study at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest for 5 months. Here is my report.

I have been awarded the AXPO fellowship to be a visiting scholar at the Observatory of Market Society Polarization at SciencesPo, Paris for 6 weeks.

I am an elected member of the Academia Europaea which has as purpose "the advancement and propagation of excellence in scholarship ... for the public benefit" since May 2023 

I have been awarded a grant of 340k Euro by the wwtf to study "Misperceptions about the welfare state" as co-PI joint with C. Koch (PI). Project starts January 2024  

I have been appointed as chairperson of the scientifc advisory board of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel for a period of 4 years, starting Jan. 2024.

I have been awarded a grant to visit the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance in Rome for 6 weeks. 

I have been awarded an International Fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) which will allow me to visit Japan in Summer 2024.

I am part of a team with colleagues from the Social Science Faculty (with J. Matthes, A. Murugesan, A. Nanz) that has won a Horizon europe grant of 750k to study "the emotional politics of democracy" in for 2024-27. 

CEPR Research Fellow: My association to the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) as Research Fellow in the Public Economics and Political Economy programme areas has been extended for a ​four years, until 2027
