I am fascinated by topics concerning biodiversity and species composition, as well as biogeochemistry and primary production of tropical rainforests. Therefore, I developed a strong interest in tropical forest ecosystems focusing on carbon and element cycling in response to seasonal and interannual climate variation.

I conducted several tropical field campaigns and coordinated the set-up of long-term forest sites in correspondence with students and local authorities in southwestern Costa Rica. Furthermore, I have been involved in teaching activities as lecturer of tropical field courses and as research associate at the University of Vienna, Austria.

In the course of my research I have published and co-authored peer-reviewed articles and book-sections as well as given several oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences - for a detailed list of peer-reviewed articles, conference talks and published book-sections please click the link above.
