Information

In this online study, we are interested in how you deal with negative and positive emotions and how you think about negative experiences and problems in everyday life. We furthermore focus on how you feel about social interactions. Additionally, the survey deals with the special circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular with possible effects on experienced loneliness.

This online study is conducted at the University of Vienna as part of a seminar and master's theses (responsible person/supervision: Dr. Dorothea König-Teshnizi). The survey only serves teaching and scientific purposes in order to gain more knowledge regarding the study topic.

Which study participants we are looking for: Individuals 18 years and older, whose English skills are very good (at least B1 = independet or advanced language/reading skills; for information see external link).

Voluntariness: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary. At any point in time during this study, you are free to quit your participation without incurring any disadvantages. You can cancel your participation at any time by closing the browser window.

Notice

We would like to point out that at the end of the survey no diagnosis/diagnoses or evaluation profiles and the like will be issued. In addition, we would like to explicitly mention that participation in the study does not constitute psychological counseling or replace it in any way.

If the content of our survey made you uncomfortable or thoughtful and/or if you feel (mentally) burdened and urgently want to talk to someone about it, please do not hesitate to contact an advice center. We have compiled a selection of contact points (USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Republic of Ireland) as well as links to information pages relating to mental health problems in a PDF document. Data Protection

Your data, which you send to the server in this study by answering the questions, will be treated strictly confidential. Your data is anonymous and contains no information that could be used to identify you. Information about your age or gender, for example, does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. Your personal data record is not identifiable for us, because the data is collected completely anonymously.

Your data will be treated as strictly confidential and will be used for teaching and scientific purposes only. Your data will not be passed on to third parties nor be used commercially under any circumstances. The anonymously collected data can be viewed by the students of the seminar as well as by the head of the seminar. The data will be used for teaching purposes in the course of the seminar. In addition, the data represent the basis for master's theses and possibly scientific publications.

The data collected may in principle be stored without restriction in accordance with Art. 89 Para. 1 GDPR. For fundamental legal questions in connection with the GDPR (Research Organization Act) and student research, you can contact the data protection officer at the University of Vienna. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority (e.g., via dsb@dsb.gv.at).
