Panel: Kathrin Glösel, Monika Mokre, Benjamin Opratko, Birgit Sauer

Tuesday, May 17, 2016, 6pm
Hörsaal 1, IPW, NIG 2. Stock, Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Wien

An event of the departments Governance und Geschlecht and Internationale Politik at the institute for political science at the University of Vienna
Based on the election success of Norbert Hofer in the first round of the federal president election the causes of the societal swing to the right should be discussed. Why is the FPÖ that successful at the moment? Who does respond well to the political strategy of the FPÖ? Which role do right extremist agents, especially the group called “Identitäre Bewegung”, play in the current political contention? What do right wing populism and anti-genderism have in common? What is the connection between the FPÖ and the New Right? Which impact do anti-muslim racism and processes of desolidarization have for the society? And how could solidarity be rethought currently?
