Abstract:
How can the affective aspects of work, state and organisations, of processes of mobilisation and social movements as well as of modes of subjectification be investigated empirically? How can statements about the de/mobilising potential of feelings like solidarity, empathy, anger, shame, envy or anxiety be made and which empirical accesses can help making these feelings tangible in the first place?
In “Materialität, Affekt und Ideologie: Methodologische Überlegungen” Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez will touch upon the poststructuralist discussion with analyses and theory of society to then speak about the ‘postmaterial turn’ and ‘affective materialities’ from this starting point.
In “Exposure-Lust: Affekt und Avantgarde der ‘neuen Rechten'” Christine Hentschel will suggest an affect-theoretical way of reading to investigate the writings and campaigns of self-proclaimed right-wing ‘intellectuals’. It’s not just the creation of fear and hate what accounts for these affective positionings but also the enthusiasm of “great emotions” like daring and willingness to make sacrifices in the wake of a “fulminant advent of youth in Europe”.
