About the book:
Within the change from the industrial to a service society feelings became crucial professional competences. They are subjected to marketization and become sort of a capital. Against this background Otto Penz and Birgit Sauer develop a critical, social-theoretical concept of affects and analyze their social and gender-specific imprints in the context of the neoliberal transformation of work. Through the example of the austrian post they show how external regulation and self-regulation of affects contribute to a an entrepreneurial attitude of workers.
