Welcome to my homepage! I am an astrophysicist working at the
Institute for Astrophysics Vienna, Austria,
in the
Extragalactic Group
of Prof. Bodo Ziegler.
Before I came here, I worked at the
Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics Innsbruck, Austria, the
Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam, Germany,
and the
Institute for Astrophysics Göttingen, Germany.
To date, I have acquired 150 hours of observing time with the 8-m European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope (ESO-VLT) as Principal Investigator. In my research, I scrutinize the evolution of galaxies on cosmic time scales, particularly focusing on their stellar populations, morphologies and kinematics. I also am interested in how the properties of galaxies depend on their environment - they may be isolated, reside in a pair, a group or even a cluster of galaxies.
The impact of galaxy environment on galaxy evolution is also the main science driver of the STAGES and OMEGA projects that I am a team member of. Both projects target the Abell 901/902 cluster system at a redshift of z=0.17, two billion light years away from us. For more information on my research, please use the menu to the left to navigate through the pages.
