Three-port beam splitter for cold neutrons using holographic SiO_2 nanoparticle-polymer diffraction gratings

Abstract

Diffraction of cold neutrons by nanoparticle-polymer composite gratings has been observed. By carefully choosing grating parameters such as grating thickness and SiO2 nanoparticle concentration, a three-port beam splitter ? distributing the incident neutron intensity equally to the ±1st and 0th diffraction orders ? was realized.
