From Lollipops to Square Well Lines
Abstract
Generally accepted standard models exist for spherically symmetric
molecules or colloidal particles. Hard-sphere and Lennard-Jones
systems are used as a first approximation to simple real fluids,
providing a common ground for theoretical and numerical
treatment.
For linearly extended particles no successful standard model
has yet been defined.
After a short survey of existing linear models two new
attempts are described: the LJL (Lennard-Jones Lines)
and the SWL (Square Well Line) models.
