There is as yet no quantitative estimate of the number of non-native invasive taxa in the aquatic and terrestrial environments of Europe. For the first time an inventory of animals and plants endemic or subendemic to Austria is prepared. Occurrence, distribution, ecology, habitats, threats and conservation issues of these species will be discussed. The book now is in press! Expected appearance in April 2009!

Checklist of Austrian Heteroptera (2005)

On behalf of the Austrian Academy of Sciences an annotated checklist of Heteroptera species in Austria was prepared, based on the critical revision of museum material and an evaluation of the literature. There are 893 species known to occur in Austria.

Red List of true bugs or Heteroptera in Lower Austria (2006)

On behalf of the Lower Austrian Government a Red List of endangered Heteroptera species in the district of Lower Austria was prepared.

The following animal groups appeared so far: Birds (Berg 1997), Dragonflies (Raab & Chwala 1997), Orthoptera and Mantids (Berg & Zuna-Kratky 1997), Amphibians and Reptiles (Cabela, Grillitsch & Tiedemann 1997), Fishes (Mikschi & Wolfram-Wais 1999), Butterflies (Höttinger & Pennersdorfer 1999), "Large Branchiopods" (Hödl & Eder 2000), Cray fish (Decapoda) and Mysidacea (Pekny & Pöckl 2000), Ants (Schlick-Steiner et al. 2003).

The Heteroptera of the Central Cemetery of Vienna (2006-2007)

The Viennese Central Cemetery is located in district 11 and with 240 hectars in size it is the largest in Austria and the second largest in Europe. He is resting-place for 3 million people, more than twice the actual number of inhabitants of Vienna. Opened on 30.10.1874 as the first interconfessional cemetery, enlarged several times, it now provides habitat for many species within the city. The Heteroptera fauna of the cemetery will be investigated in 2006. Manuscript will be published end of 2009.

On behalf of the Government of the district of Burgenland a check-list and red list of endangered Heteroptera species in this district was prepared. The manuscript is finished, its publication is planned.
