Since June 1995 till 23rd October 2011:
Freelance work on behalf of NGOs (eg. WWF, BirdLife, Greenpeace), the private and the public sector (implemented in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America while contributing to PHARE, TEMPUS, LIFE & INTEREG projects financed by different international donors e.g. EU-Commission, EAR, EuropeAid, ERDF as well as projects co-financed by GEF/World Bank and co-implemented by UNDP)

Nov 1997–Jan 1999: in total 9 months legal trainee at Austrian Courts
Apr 1999–July 1999: employee with the WWF Austria (fixed term contract)
Aug 1999–Oct 2002: in total 3 years lawyer (trainee solicitor & qualified lawyers at several law firms with legal practice in Austria & Belgium)
Jun 2002: bar exam passed at the Rechtsanwaltskammer (Austrian Chamber of Attorneys)
1999-2002: member of the managing board of BirdLife Austria, which is responsible and liable for staff, budget, fund raising and strategic planning
2000–2003: External Lecturer in the winter semester in the Institute for Limnology/ University of Vienna in the seminar “Water and Law” for non-lawyers (together with two other lecturers)


Research interests:

  • Biodiversity conservation (through science, law, economics and policies e.g. in the environmental, agricultural & regional politics also incl. EU-Aquis & Multilateral Environmental Agreements and public participation)
  • Environmental governance (legal, economic & political interplay of organisations and institutions between local, national, regional & international level, incl. future generations)
  • Sustainability practice (the interplay between ecological, social and economic sustainability and its practical implementation in the sense of Strong Sustainability)
