Information für die TeilnehmerInnen am Kurs 040131 (Empirische Wirtschaftsforschung)

• Da das Textbuch von Ramanathan weiter vergriffen ist, orientiert sich der Kurs an eigenen Unterlagen. Ein Skriptum, das in den letzten Jahren verwendet wurde, ist hier abladbar.
• Slides zum ersten Teil des Kurses sind hier abladbar.

• Der Midterm-Test hat am 5. Dezember 2011 statt gefunden. Termin für den Endtest ist die letzte LV-Einheit im Jänner 2012, also der 30. Jänner 2012.
• Die im Kurs öfters zur Präsentation verwendeten Datensätze zu Konsum und Einkommen sowie Hauspreisen sind hier abladbar.
• Hier können Sie die 1. Hausübung herunterladen (hier englisch). Die Antworten waren bis 21. November (vor oder zu Beginn der Einheit) abzugeben, sodass sie am 28. November vor dem Midterm diskutiert werden können.
• Das Midterm des Vorjahres kann als Rollenmodell hier abgeladen werden. Wie in allen diesen Fällen ist darauf hinzuweisen, dass Stoffumfang und Betonung einzelner Themen zeitlichen Änderungen unterworfen sind.
• Slides zum zweiten Teil des Kurses sind hier abladbar. Hinweise auf Fehler werden dankend entgegen genommen. An English translation is available here.

• Der Endtest eines früheren Jahres dient uns als 2. Hausübung (Training). Er besteht aus einem Fragenblatt (hier englisch) und einem Beiblatt mit Ergebnissen einer Schätzung. Sinnvolle Antworten waren bis 23. Jänner, 14:30, abzugeben.
• Zur Kontrolle steht hier ein File mit tentativen Antworten zur 2. Hausübung zur Verfügung (here for the English version).
• Provisorische Endauswertung dieses Kurses mit Noten unter Berücksichtigung des Endtests am 30/1/2012 siehe weiter oben.

Information for the participants of the course 040787 (Applied Time-Series Analysis)

• A set of useful lecture notes for the first part of the course can be downloaded here.
• The written test was on December 12, 2011. Results see above on this page.
• Otherwise, the course will proceed as outlined in the syllabus. For the empirical project to be presented in January, work in groups of two or three participants is encouraged.
• Participants have expressed a preference for Stata or possibly EViews as the software basis for computer codes. This preference does not preclude the usage of different software by participants for the empirical projects.
• Participants have expressed their interest in accessing the presentation slides. The slides for the first portion are downloadable here.

• Last year this test was used in a similar course. Note that course contents may have changed.
• Attendance of the units on January 9 and 16 was non-obligatory. Projects were presented by participants in the units on January 23 and 30. Written reports on the projects were due by January 31. Thank you for timely submission of all project reports.

Information for the participants of the course 390045 (Vector autoregressions)

• The written test was on December 6, 2011. Results see above.
• Otherwise, the course will proceed as outlined in the syllabus. For the presentations of book sections or projects, work in groups of two or three participants is encouraged.
• Participants have expressed a preference for Stata as the software basis for computer code.
• Slides (updated November 3) for the first two sections of the textbook can be downloaded here. Kindly comment on any errors that they may contain.
• The data set (investment, income, consumption) that is used in the textbook can be downloaded here.

• Participants have expressed their interest in role-model tests from past years. Here, you can download a comparable test from 2007, though please note that course contents may change over the years.
• Note that a written version of your presentation should be received by me by January 31, 2012, i.e. the end of the term. For all those who present book sections or articles, the true work is summarizing and condensing, and hence good presentation slides already fulfill this requirement. In case of empirical projects, please hand in a readable text summary that clearly informs what was done and why.
