Recently, I have co-organized (with Astrid Fellner, Vienna, and Tim Conley, Peoria, IL) a collaboration with Bradley University (Peoria, IL, USA). Started in 2001 by Tim Conley and Kurt Mayer, this ongoing collaboration has produced two student excursions to the U.S.A. and two collaborative classes taught at the University of Vienna. These projects have been kindly supported by the Department of English and American Studies, the University of Vienna, the International Programs Office at Bradley University, and the U.S. Embassy in Vienna. More classes are planned--in 2009, we will organize a three-way cooperation with the University of Vienna, Bradley University, and Stanford University. Click below for more information:
A few years ago, I began to be interested in the intersection of the discipline of American studies and the more recent field of (British and American) cultural studies. I am in debt to Kurt Mayer, who introduced these particular crossroads to the Department of English and, together with the students he taught in his courses in American/cultural studies, compiled websites on a variety of topics.
