Astronomical Summer School in MongoliaJuly 21-26, 2008Program
The lectures at the National University of Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar) will take place over 5 days, Monday to Friday, with time for additional meetings on Saturday. One afternoon there will be an excursion to the Ulaanbaatar Astronomical Observatory at Bogd mount. Knowledge of the English language is required to follow the lectures. A previous intensive course in basic astronomy took place in May 2007. The lecture notes of this course (with short desciptions in Mongolian) can be found online. Teachers and topics: Prof. R. After the school in Ulaanbaatar there will be an excursion to view the total elipse on August 1, from the Khovd province in the West of Mongolia. There is a limited number of air tickets available for those who wish to go by flight, but as seats are limited it is necessary to register for this trip as early as possible. An excursion over land will also be organized. More infomation can be found in the "Eclipse" section. Attention: Those who take part in the eclipse excursion are responsible for their own travel expenses. |
