PAPIERART

Thomas a Kempis, Libri quatuor de imitatione Christi.
Paris, Pierre-François Didot, 1788

Printed on wove paper, a very smooth type of paper without visible lines (manufactured by Montgolfier in Annonay), which made the printer, Pierre-François Didot, famous, in a roman type face designed and cut by his son Henri. This type face was the typographical expression of the new, Neo-Classicist, mood in the arts.
