Bush supports teaching of "Intelligent Design" theory in schools

So, Maki, it seems you are going to meet God...? Yes. But which God? That of the Asbourhas? of the Minetons? of the Ficharrots? Bah... it's more or less the same for all, isn't it? What?! Not at all! You fool, you must not talk such blasphemy! The Asbourha God wears shorts, the Mineton God rides a bike, and the Ficharrot God sings in the shower.

I wonder if all the proponents of intelligent design are intelligent enough to see the point...

Horst said on August 4, 2005 02:58 PM:

They're not likely to read this blog anyway...

Or are fluent enough in French to appreciate this B.D.

Translation, for those who don't speak God's own language:
Well, Maki? It looks like you're going to meet god? - Yes.

But which god? The Azbur's one? The Minoton's one? The Ficharot's one? - Oh, all in all that's quite the same one, isn't it?

What?! But not at all! Are you crazy... You shall not utter such blasphemy!
The Azbur's one wears shorts, the Minoton's one rides a bicycle and the Ficharot's one is singing under the shower.

Not speaking God's own language myself, I translated it from the German version "Das Land der drei Lächeln":
Na, Maki? Sieht aus, als würdest Du Gott treffen... - Ja.

Aber welchen Gott? Den der Azburen? Den der Minotonen? Den der Ficharoten? - Ach, im Großen und Ganzen ist das doch ein und derselbe, oder?

Was?!

One of the best Trondheims, sure.
If there wasn't such stuff as "God eats dog shit!" included, maybe even those very religious, blimpish and antimodern people could enjoy it.
Trondheim can be very pessimistic, like them.

You bloggers' facility with languages is amazing. Thank you, ibert, for the translation so I could read the comic. We are all hoping in the U.S. that the design of the space shuttle is intelligent enough for the astronauts to land safely on Monday.

Horst said on August 5, 2005 12:07 AM:

Actually, I put the comic online as an image map, so if you move the mouse over the French speech bubbles, you get the English translation.

Cool, it worked! Still doesn't help me "get" the funny, though...
