Explanation

This might explain why I feel like I'm living in the wrong country every morning: Austrians rank 6th in a world-wide survey of early risers. Which is why off-peak travelcards start at 9:30am in London, but already at 8am in Vienna. My brain, by the way, starts around 10am, which is probably why everybody looks somewhat spooked if they talk to me before that time. This is just a guess though, because I can't remember a word of what I'm saying to them.

This might also explain why today (it's already Saturday) I woke to the sound of at least seventeen pieces of our former gutter being thrown down from the roof into the garden in front of my bedroom window. At half past seven, I forgot to mention. I went over to the kids and asked if they would mind me using one of their beds for a short while, only to learn that one of them has developed high fever over night.
So I am not only losing sleep but maybe won't be able to meet a special someone tomorrow, which would be much worse... and it's obvious how these two things are connected, isnt' it.
