I am a post-doctoral research biologist working in the laboratory of Professor W. Tecumseh Fitch at the University of Vienna. My research focuses on determining the function of specific acoustic parameters in mammal vocalisations, in order to identify the selection pressures acting on them.  I am especially interested in the functions and adaptive value of vocal signals given in reproductive contexts.  In the past I have worked on a range of species, including deer, domestic cats, and giant pandas.  Currently I am researching koala vocal communication and investigating the affect of female reproductive stage on musical preferences in humans.
