I’m a communication researcher working as ‘Associate Director for Marketng & Data Science’ at GfK‘s Global Social Media Intelligence Center. I’ve graduated with a PhD from the University of Vienna and worked at their Department of Communication for several years. In the last two years, I’ve focused on method development for the structural analyses of Internet discourses within the research project “Towards an Analytics of Networked Publics” and have been researching practices and dynamics of social media communication with a focus (but not limited to) political communication. Prior to my university job, I’ve been doing research for the Austrian Ministry of Education on cyberbullying in teenage peer groups as well as digital literacy of high school students and their teachers.

My blog is mainly about my research and teaching work as well as some thoughts on digital media, stuff the Austrian media is also time by time asking me about for articles on social media and my other research fields. And because you need to know the field you are working on yourself (well, not the only reason), I’m quite actively using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, you can also check out my profile on academia.edu or Google Scholar.
