I’m communication scholar working at the Department of Communication of the University of Vienna. Today, most of my work time is dedicated to my dissertation thesis on new modes of public communication within digital media, and I’m gathering and analyzing a lot of data on practices and dynamics of social media communication; not to forget teaching undergraduate research classes as well as coordinating projects of Prof. Thomas A. Bauer, the annual Erasmus EuroMedia Awards in particular. Prior to my university job, I’ve been doing research for the Austrian Ministry of Education on cyberbullying in teenage peer groups as well as digital literacy of high school students and their teachers.
My blog is mainly about my research and teaching work as well as some thoughts on digital media, stuff the Austrian media is also time by time asking me about for articles on social media and my other research fields. And because you need to know the field you are working on yourself (well, not the only reason), I’m quite actively using Twitter and Facebook by myself and look forward to connect to you. I used to have a XING Account as well (it’s still there), but I’ve actually stopped using it; but hope for new connections on LinkedIn, which I just started using in 2011, and academia.edu.

Ich bin als Universitätsassistent in Forschung und Lehre am Institut für Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Wien tätig und arbeite an meiner Dissertation zum Konzept öffentlicher Kommunikation in digitalen Medien, für die ich laufend kleine empirische Projekte durchführe. Zudem bin ich für die Koordination von Forschungs- und internationalen Lehrprojekten von Univ. Prof. Thomas A. Bauer zuständig, insbesondere den Erasmus EuroMedia Award. Zuvor war ich in Forschungsprojekten für das österreichische Unterrichtsministerium zu Internet & Schule sowie Cybermobbing tätig.
